Embrace Inclusion South West is a community owned initiative focused on creating inclusive, accessible social events where everyone feels welcome, seen, and able to take part.

This group exists because everyone deserves to feel like they belong in their community.

What is Embrace Inclusion South West?

Embrace Inclusion South West is about creating social events that are designed with accessibility and inclusion in mind from the very beginning.

Rather than expecting people to adapt or ask for adjustments, Embrace Inclusion works alongside people with lived experience to plan events that are welcoming, relaxed, and flexible. These events are open to people with disability, families, friends, allies, services, and the wider community.

Some people come to socialise. Some come to feel less alone. Some come to help shape more inclusive events for the future. All reasons are valid.

What to expect

Events run under Embrace Inclusion South West are designed to feel safe, friendly, and easy to join. This might include
• Clear information about what to expect before the event
• Accessible venues and pathways
• A relaxed atmosphere where people can come and go
• Space for different communication styles and support needs
• Community members and facilitators who value inclusion and respect

Well known events such as the much loved Sunset Socials are a great example of how inclusion and connection can come together in simple, joyful ways.

• Community members who believe in inclusion
• Services and groups wanting to be part of positive, accessible community events

You do not need a referral. You do not need to book into a program. You are welcome to simply come along and see what it is about.

Why Embrace Inclusion matters

Social connection is a key part of wellbeing, but many people with disability face barriers to attending community events. These barriers are not about ability, they are about access, attitudes, and design.

Embrace Inclusion South West works to remove those barriers by showing what is possible when events are planned with people, not for them. Each gathering helps build confidence, friendships, and a stronger sense of belonging, while also encouraging the wider community to think differently about inclusion.

Part of the D-Connect Circles

Embrace Inclusion South West is one of the D-Connect Circles, a network of community led groups supported by Advocacy WA. Each Circle reflects local interests and strengths, while sharing a common goal of making the South West the most inclusive and accessible region in Australia.

Through collaboration, lived experience, and community ownership, Embrace Inclusion continues to grow and evolve alongside the people it brings together.
