Community Spotlight - Celebrating Quiet Access Sensory Sessions at South West Sport Centre
This year, South West Sport Centre has made a meaningful difference by creating a Quiet Access Sensory Sessions and offering it as a permanent part of its weekly schedule following an overwhelmingly successful trial and positive community feedback.
Seeing the Quiet Access Sensory Session on their website, their socials and their brochure is a meaningful and practical step. For Neurodivergent community members it shows supports informed choices and makes it easier to plan which days to go.
Quiet Access Sensory Session are more than just quieter swimming times they represent a commitment to inclusion, understanding and accessibility. For many neurodivergent individuals, reducing sensory stimulation creates an opportunity to participate with confidence, enjoy recreation and feel a genuine sense of belonging. Initiatives like this demonstrate how thoughtful adjustments can remove barriers, ensuring community spaces are welcoming and accessible for everyone.
Clear information is a powerful tool. By identifying Quiet Access Sensory Session times in the weekly program can make recreational activities more welcoming. We encouraged everyone to explore the sessions.
