D-Connect Circles

D-Connect Circles are community led groups that sit at the heart of D‑Connect. They are welcoming, inclusive spaces where people with disability, their support networks, and the wider community come together to connect, share, and belong.

D-Connect was created after hearing the same story again and again across the South West. People told us it was hard to find out what was happening locally, whether events were accessible, and whether spaces would truly feel welcoming. Even when great things were happening, the information was scattered, unclear, or hard to access.

D-Connect exists to change that.

Our mission is to help make the South West the most inclusive and accessible region in Australia by building strong community connections, sharing information in accessible ways, and supporting people with lived experience to lead, shape, and participate in community life.

D-Connect Circles bring this mission to life at a local level.

What are D-Connect Circles?

D-Connect Circles are regular community groups that are supported by Advocacy WA and shaped by the people who attend them. Each Circle looks a little different, because each community is different, but they all share the same values.

They are spaces where people can
• Meet others and build genuine connections
• Feel safe, welcomed, and respected
• Share ideas, skills, and experiences
• Take part in activities that support wellbeing and confidence
• Be involved in shaping inclusive community life

Our Current D-Connect Circles

Crafty Corner
Crafty Corner is a creative space where people can unwind, connect, and enjoy making together. You can bring your own project or join in with simple, facilitated craft activities. There is no pressure to be “good” at crafting. The focus is on creativity, conversation, and taking time for yourself.

Crafty Corner is about slowing down, meeting new people, and enjoying the wellbeing benefits of creating in a supportive environment. All skill levels are welcome, and support needs are respected.

Roll with Support

Roll with Support is an inclusive tabletop roleplaying group designed to make games like Dungeons and Dragons accessible for every adventurer. This Circle is about fun, imagination, and shared storytelling, with disability aware facilitators who understand how to adapt games, rules, and environments so everyone can take part.

Players are supported to chat about what they need before the game begins, with simplified character sheets, flexible rules, and a welcoming pace.

Embrace Inclusion South West

Embrace Inclusion South West is a community owned Circle focused on creating inclusive, accessible social events for everyone. This group brings people together to plan and enjoy events that feel welcoming, relaxed, and genuinely inclusive.

From well loved Sunset Socials to pop up community gatherings, Embrace Inclusion is about being seen, being included, and building a sense of community where difference is expected and celebrated. You can simply come along and join in, or you can be part of shaping future events.

Get Involved

You can join a Circle by coming along to a session, sharing information through the D-Connect network, or getting involved as a community mentor or supporter.

Whether you are a person with disability, a family member, a friend, or a community member who believes in inclusion, there is a place for you here.

Because community works best when we build it together.
